Angela’s Spokane I-1068 Signature Gathering Vigil Is Again Live

June 17, 2010

Angela Johnson’s signature gathering vigil in Spokane is back on at at a safe approved location on the corner of N. Division and E. Desmet in the old Burgans Furniture lot. She will be on the corner. Everyone spread this fast. People are looking for her to sign 1068. Spokane area vols get down there and help her please. And please help keep this vigil going through this coming weekend to the end of the month. She’s located just north of where Division and Ruby split. A map is here.

For those of you who didn’t catch today’s earlier events, please read this press release describing how Johnson was allegedly assaulted and harassed by a large, angry male property manager.

If anyone wants to do something similar elsewhere in Washington State–hint, hint–let us know about it.

Just goes to prove that the so-called normal people are the ones suffering from Reefer Madness. This person needs to be charged and run through the system just like a person in possession of cannabis would be and his crime is worse.

things got very complex with sigs shipped to calif at seiu’s behest. my estimate is that we are at or slightly above 150k now in-hand and that there are lots more sigs out there already that have not come into us. for example, we know we have 20k sheets that were distributed from march 1 to about may 15 that have not come into us yet. and perhaps another 10k that went out may 15 to now that have not come back in. i’ll let you do the math on what that could look like.

in addition to the weather, it’s been getting people to get their signed sheets back into us well ahead of the final two weeks that has been difficult all along. people have this desire to hang onto them till near the end and in some cases we know that’s because people want to see if we come into money and then can pay them for those sigs. we don’t have the money now and won’t.

so if we can get a large chunk of those outstanding petitions back in promptly, it’ll make our life easier. and easier to give one and all a hard count.

I know a lot of folks have asked what the signature count is now. We’ve never gotten a hard count and I feel that is not respectful of the level of passion and support your volunteers display. Perhaps you are not sending a hard count because we are only half way there. But we need to know that.

Who is doing the count? Do you need help to count? I’m in Tacoma, but I could count sheets. Please put out a hard count. Something like 150,000 signatures as of June 15th at noon. Break that down to how many per day remaining. 100,000 in 15 days divided by number of volunteers. People work well with goals and tracking. Post a new count every day at noon.

I just picked up about 80 signatures at Tacoma Farmers Market by myself in 3 hrs. And I’m 61! I’m in until the end, but please give us a count.

Thanks,
Patricia
